    Health & Benefits Financial Consultant

    • Participates as a member of the consulting team in developing overall client health and non-health employee benefits plan strategies
    • Supports senior consultants in managing client accounts, researching, analyzing, and evaluating health and non-health employee benefits plans and programs.

    We will count on you to:

    • Completes financial projects for our clients including underwriting, forecasting, incurred, but not paid analysis and other financial/data driven projects for current clients as well as support and participation in bidding for prospective clients.
    • Supports design and implement financial strategy and planning including impact of plan design changes, contribution scenarios, network changes, stop loss terms and various funding arrangements
    • Contributes as a member of the consulting team in developing overall client strategy bridging the financial and non-financial work streams ensuring programs changes are properly incorporated and reflect the overall strategy
    • Reviews project work of more junior colleagues and prepares that work for more senior colleagues to review including documentation of data used, assumptions made, methodology followed, and plan design assumed
    • Ensures proper peer review, appropriate use of models, clear and concise documentation of results, and adherence to professional standards.
    • Specialize and expand skillset through participation in Mercer centers of excellence including pharmacy, life, accident and disability, stop loss and our private exchange

    What you need to have?

    • BA/BS or equivalent experience
    • Relevant prior financial work experience, preferably in healthcare underwriting
    • At least two years of industry related experience
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
    • Knowledge of MS Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Ability to partner and lead teams to deliver project objectives; ability to work independently and on a team.
    • Capable of performing data analysis (example includes but is not limited to review claims and utilization data and look for trends and patterns); may involve use of the underwriting model to develop self-funded claims projections, rate setting and employee cost sharing.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.

    The applicable base salary range for this role is $62,600 to $125,300.

    The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
