    Work-Based Learning/Summer Youth Employment Program

    The Work-Based Learning/Summer Youth Employment Program has served as a springboard to first-time job seekers, between the ages of 14 - 22, along those with barriers to self-sufficiency through its ability to provide community-based workforce development training, and employee engagement. The Work-Based Learning/Summer Youth Employment Program also seeks to proactively address the vicious cycles of poverty by partnering with local schools and City and County government agencies.

    It provides our youth with career awareness and readiness programming annually to over 750 students in middle school and high school.

    About the Job

    We are seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Work-Based Learning/Summer Youth Employment Program Coordinator. This individual will be responsible for coordinating all phases of activities and functions associated with a social services program or programs. They will perform consultative, technical, and administrative work in the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of a program.

    The ideal candidate should have extensive experience working directly with youth in a youth development program. They should be able to inspire and motivate individuals and groups to work toward setting and achieving goals and to navigate and manage obstacles to meet educational, work, and life goals.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and organizations to secure participation in the SYEP.
    • Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to engage new employers, including presenting the program's benefits and coordinating informational sessions.
    • Serve as the primary contact for employer partners, addressing their needs and concerns to ensure a positive and productive partnership throughout the program year.
    • Collaborate with employer partners to create and tailor worksite opportunities that meet the needs of both the businesses and the youth participants.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of employer partnerships, making recommendations for improvements and ensuring compliance with program standards.
    • Coordinate, train, monitor, and evaluate program activities and staff. Plan, develop, and recommend new or revised programs, goals, and objectives.
    • Develop and schedule program work plans, oversee daily operations, and coordinate activities.
    • Evaluate program effectiveness by developing improved methods, devising evaluation methodologies, coordinating implementation, analyzing results, and taking appropriate action.
    • Monitor and approve program expenditures within the established budget, and prepare or assist in preparing funding proposals.
    • Serve as a technical consultant for program policies, providing technical and problem-solving assistance.
    • Participate in delivering program services to clients.
    • Prepare periodic reports, financial analyses, and statistical reports on program activities and progress.
    • Analyze and review program and policy issues.
    • Act as a liaison and resource for community outreach groups, advocacy groups, service providers, and others.
    • Coordinate, improve, and stimulate interest in the program, and recruit participants.
    • Plan, develop, and conduct program-related educational sessions and training.
    • Speak to community and other groups.

    Minimum Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences or a directly related field AND two (2) years' experience in social services or a directly related field, including experience coordinating a program;

    OR, any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.

    Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements

    Valid Texas Driver's License.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bilingual in English and Spanish Master's degree in social or behavioral sciences or a directly related field. Two years working in an educational setting Possess experience in recruitment.

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental clientele, representatives of outside agencies, other County employees and officials, community outreach organizations, clinical service providers, and the general public.
    • Engage and recruit local businesses and organizations to participate in the SYEP.
    • Address and resolve employer concerns to ensure successful partnerships.

    Work Environment & Other Information

    Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, client/customer contact, and squatting to perform the essential functions.
