    Job Summary: Business Unit Manager

    The Business Unit Manager is responsible for driving results within a business unit by implementing a value generation strategy. This strategy aims to achieve consistent year-over-year growth while surpassing customer service expectations.

    This company manufactures and sells high-tech electronics/control devices/power systems for the defense and aerospace industry.

    Their key responsibilities include:

    1. Leadership: The Business Unit Manager leads a cross-functional team comprising sales, operations, and engineering professionals.
    2. Financial Accountability: They oversee bookings, profit and loss, and ensure cost objectives are met.
    3. Contract Negotiations: The manager plays a pivotal role in negotiating contracts with clients.
    4. Customer Relationship Management: Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships is a key focus.
    5. Operational Oversight: The Business Unit Manager monitors operating activities to optimize efficiency.
    6. Value Creation: Emphasizing value-based pricing, productivity enhancements, and profitable new business ventures.

    Reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, this role serves as a critical steppingstone for career advancement into senior management positions.


    Primary Responsibilities

    1. Achieve Objectives: Responsible for achieving bookings, sales, and profit objectives.
    2. Value Creation: Drive consistent value creation through value-based pricing, productivity, and profitable new business.
    3. Business Strategy: Develop and execute a Business Unit strategy resulting in year-over-year growth.
    4. Team Leadership: Lead and guide the business team in pursuing profitable new business while maintaining clear focus and priorities within the product team.
    5. Continuous Improvement: Implement initiatives to improve team responsiveness to customer/business needs, including quality and on-time product delivery.
    6. Engineering Coordination: Prioritize and coordinate engineering activities in support of business unit goals.
    7. Operations Management: Coordinate operations activities to ensure cost goals, prioritize customer needs, and resolve quality issues.
    8. Quarterly Reviews: Develop and present quarterly business reviews to executive management.
    9. Customer Relationships: Develop positive relationships with customers.
    10. Contract Responsibilities: Responsible for contract review and negotiations.
    11. Work Environment: Foster a performance-oriented work environment with high accountability.


    Requirements

    Basic Qualifications

    1. Education:
    2. A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university or college is required.
    3. A technical degree is preferred but not mandatory.
    4. Experience:
    5. A minimum of 5 years of total experience is necessary.
    6. This experience should include roles with increasing responsibility in areas such as Sales, Operations, Finance, and/or Engineering.
    7. Industrial experience is preferred.
    8. Skills and Attributes:
    9. Results and action-oriented: The candidate should take ownership of the team's performance and drive results.
    10. Strong analytical, verbal, and written skills: Ability to communicate effectively.
    11. Interpersonal skills: The ability to interface with all levels of Company customers and management staff.
    12. Leadership experience: The candidate should have led direct reports and cross-functional teams.
    13. Travel:
    14. The candidate should be willing to travel up to 20% as required by business needs
    15. Location: Able to work onsite in Buena Park, CA (Northern Orange County).
