    TITLE: Network Engineer

    SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (8 AM - 5 PM CST)

    LOCATION: Peoria IL

    TYPE: Contract-to-Hire

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under general direction, the IT Core Network Engineer works as a member of a team to provide ongoing maintenance and implementation of the Client's network infrastructure. Works independently on selected tasks and projects as assigned. Ensures stability, availability, reliability, and security of the production network environment. Works on complex problems where analysis of the situation requires an in-depth evaluation of various technical and non-technical factors. Perform daily problem resolution, preventive maintenance, and performance tuning, all within best practice standards.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor-related field or Five (5) years experience in a related field.

    CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

    Driver's license

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Five (5) Computers/Information Technology. Ability to understand, recommend, design, and implement LAN/WLAN/MAN/WAN functionality. Must have a good understanding of Cisco routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, VoIP, and wireless systems as well as comfort with most common network concepts such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization. Ability to work on projects both independently and in a team environment. Ability to troubleshoot issues within all aspects of Information Technology. Ability to deal with a rapid and fast-paced changing environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage and deliver multiple project phases at the same time, and to manage ongoing operational issues with longer-term strategic work.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for rapid and efficient day-to-day problem analysis and resolution techniques.
    • Coordinates WAN connections to remote sites to ensure proper integration with the LAN environment.
    • Provides backup support to telecommunications and enterprise network projects.
    • Interfaces with present and potential customers, many of whom are part of a very complex, integrated network that spans the Carle enterprise and external customers.
    • Responsible for implementing the strategies necessary to reach our objectives.
    • Provides leadership to Support Analysts on day-to-day network troubleshooting issues as it relate to desktop or telephone support.
    • Analyzes client requirements and recommends appropriate hardware and software solutions to optimize workflow and efficiency.
