    Radiology Technologist/Multimodality - San Antonio, United States - Gonzaba Medical Group

    Description
    Duties:

    1. Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.
    2. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients during examination.
    3. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
    4. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
    5. Examines radiologic image for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion.
    6. Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
    7. Ensures images are in accordance with imaging protocols and completes exams for radiologist to review.
    8. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
    9. Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
    10. Participates in training employees, student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance.
    11. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
    12. Enhances professional growth through education programs, conferences and workshops.
    13. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures and addresses patient concerns.
    14. Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures.
    15. Assures all exams have proper authorization for ordered study.
    16. Starts IV for intravenous contrast studies.
    17. Prepares patients for radiology and CT procedures utilizing established protocols for patient care and safety
    18. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
    19. Prepares contrast media and barium.
    20. Prepares patient for exam.
    21. Insures equipment is in working order.
    22. Runs QC test on daily.
    23. Monitors (quality control) their own scans for technical quality by setting proper radiological techniques for each view/exam.
    24. Performs clerical functions as required including answering the telephone, copying and faxing, etc.
    25. Reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Supervisor.
    26. Logs procedures completed.
    27. Process routine paperwork.
    28. Maintains CT rooms.
    29. Stock necessary medical and radiology supplies.
    30. Assists other modalities when available.
    31. Maintain strict confidentiality.
    32. Trains new CT techs on protocols.
    33. Creates new protocols on CT scanners and educates CT staff of updated or new protocols.
    34. Reviews annual physicist report and ensures any requirement or recommendations are addressed within 30 day of physicist report.
    35. Assists with ACR Image collection for ACR accreditation
    36. Oversees Full, part time and PRN CT techs.
    37. Other duties as assigned.
    Education and Experience: Minimum high school education or equivalent. Experience in diagnostic radiology in hospital or clinical setting required, with a minimum of one year of experience preferred. Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. State certification as a Medical Certified Technologist is required. Current CPR certification. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal. Ability to work under pressure.

    Computer Skills: Skilled in use of computer, typewriter, fax machine, copier. Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet and database software.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment: Clinic setting. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

    Physical Demands: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, and walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. Standing for extended periods. Ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Ability to assist with lifting or pushing patient. Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
