The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals.

The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers.

The care is culturally based and age specific.

The RN adheres to American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

The Cardiac Cath Lab is a fast-paced environment that utilizes the newest technology to treat adult cardiovascular disease. We also participate in many research trials including pre-market release of new technology.

Besides coronary artery disease and percutaneous interventions, the Lab offers specialized programs such as CLI (chronic limb ischemia), which prevents loss of limb due to vascular disease, and CTO (chronic total occlusions), which improves the quality of life for patients with angina.

The Lab also has a structural heart program that treats the valves and structures within the heart and is led by a team of physicians with advanced expertise and knowledge of the latest techniques and technologies.

Nurses work side-by-side with this team as circulators, scrub nurses or monitoring nurses.

There are several opportunities to learn and grow within the Cardiac Cath Lab as technology evolves and while working along a great team of radiologic technologists and cardiologists.
