    About the job

    As our new SVP of Government & Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for consolidating, leading, and continuing to build our existing Global Public Policy and Global Telecommunications teams.

    Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will oversee our engagement with political leaders and stakeholders, policymakers, regulators, and industry associations.

    You will be expected to craft and implement effective advocacy strategies for the policy, political, and regulatory realms, harnessing the power of both internal and external resources to ensure that Twilio remains an effective and trusted voice on the issues that affect our business, customers, and employees.

    Responsibilities
    In this role, you will:
    Oversee a global team of government and regulatory professionals engaged in developing and advancing our policy positions;
    Lead the creation and execution of effective political and regulatory engagement strategies encompassing a broad range of issues;
    Represent Twilio effectively and serve as a thought leader in both internal and external discussions;
    Build strong relationships with the executive team and other company leaders, drawing on their perspectives and ensuring that they remain well informed of pertinent political and regulatory developments;
    Cultivate and maintain close, trusted relationships with relevant government officials, legislative offices, industry allies, and thought leaders around the world;
    Supervise the company's participation in trade associations and advocacy groups; and
    Ensure that Twilio is able to continue to grow and innovate successfully within a highly regulated environment.

    Required:
    Minimum of 15 years of government relations or public affairs experience;
    Deep knowledge of substantive policy issues relevant to Twilio, including telecommunications matters, and the procedural mechanics of government;
    Strong, pre-existing relationships and credibility with relevant government actors and entities;
    Global perspective—familiarity with and sensitivity to how policy issues and advocacy differ across jurisdictions;
    Ability to gain buy-in and build trust through effective thought leadership and advocacy, both internally and externally;
    Proven experience leading high-performance teams and high-impact projects in the political and regulatory arenas;
    Exemplary communication skills, including being an effective public speaker and a good listener; and
    Passion and curiosity about technology and a broad range of related policy topics.
    Location
    This role will be remote and based in the USA.
