A business and litigation law firm in the Midwest is seeking aProposal and Business Development Specialist
to support the expansion of business from the firms existing client base and position the firm, service groups, and lawyers to secure new clients for the firm, generate incremental revenue, and build a business development culture in the firm.
Achieving fluency in our client base and supporting efforts to identify, pursue, and attain new business from new and existing clients.
Own the RFP and pitch process from start to finish. This includes, but is not limited toReview proposal requirements and develop work plans
Craft key messages and unique differentiators to target audiences
Schedule and participate in strategy meetings
Work in tandem with the firm's competitive intelligence team to produce research packages
Coordinate and produce pre-qualification submittals/Requests for Information (RFIs)
Coordinate reporting and data collection from various firm systems such as 3E an Hubspot
Interact with various firmwide departments to respond to specific client inquiries
Review, edit and proofread presentation materials
Develop, implement, and manage the firms business development and client services plans consistent with firm strategies, goals, policies, and procedures.
Utilize metrics to demonstrate the firms comparative advantages with regard to cycle times, cost per matter, actual costs vs. budgeted, favorable outcomes, and value. Educates the firms attorneys in this regard.
Track and measure outcomes on projects, outcomes, and ongoing activities based on the plans and budgets.
Collaborate with outside organizations to advance the profile raising efforts of our offices and practices for maximum effectiveness of our memberships and associations
Ensure marketing collateral is representative of the practice
Execute monthly report tracking and analysis
Assist with practice-specific business training needs
Lead or assist other marketing and business development projects as needed
Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position
Qualifications
5+ years of related experience and/or training in a law firm
Solid understanding of marketing and business development principles and concepts in a law firm environment.
Strong project management skills and a proven ability to assist with and execute strategic plans.
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to perform a variety of complex and diverse tasks involving independent judgment, critical thinking skills, leadership of projects and implementation of decisions.
Able to set goals and develop, interpret, and report on metrics that measure success and performance.Client-focused (internal and external clients) and possess the ability to handle sensitive issues in a personable, tactful, and organized manner to ensure collaboration and coordination among practice areas, offices and administrative departments.
Maturity and seasoning that engenders respect and trust from others. Good judgment, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative style.Ability to work in a professional and collegial manner.
Autonomous, able to tolerate ambiguity, self-motivated. Flexibility to work in a varying role.
Strong written and oral communications skills, and must be able to convey ideas in a manner that is convincing to others.
