Full-Time | Office-Based Laboratory (OBL)

Position Summary

Florida Vein Care Specialists is seeking an experienced Cath Lab / Pre-Post Op Registered Nurse to support physicians in vascular catheterizations, peripheral angiography, and other minimally invasive vascular procedures within our state-of-the-art office-based laboratory (OBL).

This role requires strong clinical expertise in vascular care, with the ability to independently manage patients throughout the perioperative continuum — including pre-procedure assessment, moderate sedation administration, intraoperative monitoring, and post-procedural recovery — with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate is clinically confident, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Procedure Care

Perform comprehensive pre-procedure patient assessments, including vascular history, medication reconciliation, and risk evaluation.
Educate patients and families regarding procedures, sedation, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
Verify informed consent and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
Prepare patients for vascular catheterizations, peripheral angiography, and other vascular interventions.

Intraoperative Responsibilities

Assist physicians during vascular catheterizations and peripheral angiography procedures.
Administer and monitor moderate (conscious) sedation in accordance with state regulations and facility protocols.
Provide continuous vascular monitoring, hemodynamic assessment, and patient observation during procedures.
Recognize and respond promptly to complications or changes in patient condition.
Utilize and maintain sterile technique in procedural setup.
Maintain appropriate instrument and supply tables for various procedures.
Assist in maintaining and operating cath lab and recovery equipment.
Maintain and operate diagnostic and CLIA-certified equipment.

Post-Procedure / Recovery

Independently provide post-procedure patient care with minimal supervision.
Monitor patients through Phase I and Phase II recovery.
Assess for bleeding, vascular complications, arrhythmias, and post-sedation concerns.
Ensure patients meet discharge criteria and provide thorough discharge education.
Document all clinical care accurately and timely in the EMR.

Operational & Compliance Duties

Maintain sedation medications, crash cart, and emergency equipment.
Ensure adherence to infection control, HIPAA, and clinical compliance standards.
Support quality improvement and safety initiatives within the OBL.
Collaborate closely with physicians and clinical staff to ensure efficient case flow and optimal patient outcomes.

Position Requirements

Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License (required).
Minimum five (5) years of vascular nursing experience.
Minimum three (3) years of cath lab recovery experience.
Experience as a cath tech is a plus.
BLS and ACLS certifications (required).
Demonstrated competency in moderate sedation and vascular monitoring.
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to work independently.
Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation.
