    Job Description

    The Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and verifies the performance of highly complex biomedical equipment and systems, independent of technical supervision. The individual should be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of duties. The BMET III serves as an advisor to administrative, medical, and clinical staff in the safe use and proper operation of clinical equipment and in developing specifications for the selection of new equipment. This position also contributes to department improvement and development by mentoring other associates.     Required Qualifications:
    • Associate's Degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent educ/experience
      • military training, or academic work aligned with AAMI's Core Competencies for the Biomedical Equipment Technician, and a basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, English and professional skills plus increased levels of certification and training as needed. In-depth understanding of common clinical terminology as well as that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology. Comprehensive understanding of computers and network architecture
      • Specific Experience:
      • Exhibits a detailed understanding and can fully communicate the use of devices supported
      • Can provide advanced support of acuity equipment for direct patient care
      • Has in depth understanding of the operations and environment that they support such as hospital, clinic, etc.
      • Has advanced experience in their assigned clinical environment
      • Public Safety & Regulatory Requirements: Is knowledgeable about both local and national public safety and regulatory issues
      • Customer Service: Has a working knowledge of project management terms and methods and can successfully solve organization-level customer service issues and complaints
      • Equipment Expertise: Demonstrated a mastery of clinical equipment such as radiological, laboratory and network medical systems so that work beyond single devices can be appropriately accomplished
      • Other: Has a working knowledge of project management terms and methods
      • General Skills & Experience: Possesses advanced understanding and skills related to general electromechanical systems and devices
      • General Guidelines: Fully experienced with an exceptional skill set or knowledge, works with minimal supervision; capable of serving as a trainer, mentor to junior and mid-level staff. Capable of performing in a lead capacity
    • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role and caregivers will be expected to comply with all state laws.

    • California Fire and Life Safety Card - National Organization within 30 days of hire
    • Minimum 5 years experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment and must have manufacturers' technical training certificates on at least two of the higher end equipment which can be but are not limited to Anesthesia Machines, Ventilators, Ultrasound Machines, and Sterilizers or have service seminar certificates on Radiology equipment.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in engineering technology
    • Technical Certification
    • Upon hire: Biomedical Technician certification

    The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
