    Maintenance Planner Job Summary

    This position provides technical/maintenance planning support to mechanical maintenance department for rotating and fixed plant assets.

    The Mechanical Maintenance Planner plans daily maintenance work and long-term project work in a correct and efficient manner.

    They work in the Work Management Information System (WMIS) system to plan jobs for execution by maintenance technicians and welders.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure orderly flow of the work order system to complete all work requested by customers on a timely basis.

    • Work with Procurement, Engineering, and outside suppliers to order non-stock parts and materials required to complete tasks.

    • Maintain equipment records such as Bills of Material and specification sheets within WMIS.

    • Develop and maintain a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.

    • Participate in planning detailed shutdown and turnaround work.

    • Develop plans for completion of all work orders, including labor estimates and part listings.

    • Specify and reserve stock materials necessary for job completion and list in job plan.

    • Identify tools and special equipment needed for work order completion.

    • Complete job plans and forward work orders to Maintenance Scheduler for assignment.

    • Consult with Maintenance Supervisor, Technicians, Engineers, and/or I&E supervisor during job execution.

    • Work with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to coordinate installation, maintenance, enhancement, and upgrade of plant systems.

    • Respond to plant operations to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

    • Help develop PM frequency criteria with Maintenance Manager, Engineer, and Supervisor.

    • Prepare job plans including required tools, data, and procedures.

    • Monitor PM completion efficiency and backlog, recommending actions to maintain compliance.

    • Review field data completeness, consult with supervision, and recommend corrective action or repairs.

    • Prepare job summaries for equipment history files.

    • Monitor equipment history for frequent failures or excessive repair costs.

    • Communicate MOC changes in maintenance procedures and operating procedures.

    • Monitor new technology for cost reduction and improved on-stream time ideas.

    • Troubleshoot equipment problems and recommend solutions.

    • Plan non-emergency work orders with Production and Maintenance Supervision.

    • Maintain close communication with all levels of supervision.

    • Ensure proper safety procedures are specified and documented on planned jobs.

    • Comply with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts.

    • Support site EHS activities through compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies/procedures.

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives through teamwork and quality planning principles.

    • Respond to plant emergencies outside normal work hours to support maintenance team.

    Position Requirements

    1. Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited university with two years of industry experience.

    2. Solid communication skills, analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.

    3. Strong knowledge of fixed, rotating, and mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, heat exchanges, piping, motors, large industrial fans, gear boxes, valves, and safety devices.

    4. Familiarity with PC software applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    5. Ability to climb towers, enter confined spaces, lift 50 lbs, and work independently to achieve goals.

    6. Requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
