    The Nursing Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of nursing personnel on the evening or night shifts to maintain the continuity of nursing care. Allocates fiscal and human resources appropriately to ensure the delivery of quality cost efficient care. Oversees the safe, human and individualized delivery of quality patient care to patients from admission to discharge.

    The Nursing Supervisor:

    Supervises and coordinates the activities of nursing personnel on the evening or night shifts to maintain the continuity of nursing care.

    Consults with nursing staff in various units as to the status of patient and/or employee needs.

    Interprets hospital policies and procedures to staff, patients and visitors to ensure satisfaction and prevent and/or resolve conflict in a timely manner.

    Assigns personnel to various units as needed

    Evaluates nursing personnel who report directly to this position

    May assist and/or relieve nursing personnel as the situation demands

    Supervises or prepares reports informing nursing personnel on subsequent shifts on the condition of patients and hospital services rendered.

    May participate in or conduct staff education programs to assure the maintenance of performance standards in relation to the quality of patient care.

    Oversees orientation, training and professional growth and development needs of staff in conjunction with Nurse Manager.

    Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures as well as regulatory agency standards.

    Reports directly to the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer

    Bachelor's degree from accredited nursing program required. Minimum 5 years of nursing experience.

    Demonstrates an understanding of the growth and development of infant, child, adolescent, young adult, middle-aged adult and geriatric patients.

    Communicates using verbal, non-verbal, and written communication to instruct patients, families, staff and to work cooperatively with other health care team members and to ensure fulfillment of requirements for legal documentation and reimbursement.

    Possesses specialized knowledge and clinical skills necessary to oversee the care provided for people with physical disability and chronic illness.

    Demonstrates critical thinking skills and makes sound judgments to monitor and respond to patient and staff needs changes in condition.

    Demonstrates financial and business acumen.

    Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
