    Description

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Management of clinical patient flow on select clinical days2. Management of research subjects during research days3. Performs MRI imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and using protocols provided by the site Radiologist.4. Operates a 3T Philips Ingenia Elition MRI device during patient imaging5. Completes Patient Screening, explains the procedure to the patient.6. Management of subject stimulus devices - hardware and software used for research studies7. Provides Investigators with support in the use of stimulus instrumentation and software.8. Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the coach and during the exam.9. Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in College sponsored training programs.10. Facilitates patient registration in EPIC, data upload to PACS server, and subject data archival to research computing resources.11. Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.12. When required, assist in pre-processing of subject MRI data following acquisition where required.13. Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures.14. Provide quality control image data to the facility management on a weekly basis.15. Provide research staff with image data using approved media.16. Review facility operations, and report on aberrant facility issues.17. Maintaining subject data records, research project use of the instruments, while maintaining patient and subject confidentiality.18. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.19. Maintains and organizes MRI laboratory instrumentation.20. May assist with the set up and tear down of equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.21. Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the MRI console room and patient areas.22. Completes necessary administrative tasks.23. Works with researchers to implement new research projects24. Follows quality assurance guidelines and conducts QA measurements.25. Complies with all safety policies and regulations.26. Working with MRI physicists to implement new imaging strategies.27. Maintains current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performed.28. Performs additional duties as required, including facility cleanliness and operational device hygiene.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    Preferred:
    Graduate of a

    Radiologic Program Required:
    Graduate of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology program or equivalent

    Preferred:
    certified to place intravenous devices for administration of contrast

    Preferred:
    Experience with Philips MRI systemsHelpful: Experience in Research EnvironmentsHelpful: Computer experience

    Special Skills and Requirements:

    Be able to operate or learn to operate a Philips 3T Ingenia MRIExperience performing or demonstrated ability to learn neuro, body, cardiac, breast and MSK clinical imaging studies and MRA.Must be able to interact with client personnel and team members in an autonomous responsible, professional and ethical manner.

    Must be English speaking - ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
    Must be certified to draw blood and administer intravenous fluids.
    Must be able to produce very high-quality MRI imaging with little supervision.
    Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
    Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds as well as assist with patient maneuvering.
    Must be able to work with both adults and children.
    Able to demonstrate competency in all applicable areas.


    Licensing:


    Applicants should have certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Must be licensed by the State of New YorkMust be certified to perform venipunctureCPR certification a plus.

    Minimum Salary Range

    USD $117,000.00/Yr.

    Maximum Salary Range

    USD $130,000.00/Yr.

    About Us


    The MRRC MRI technologist operates and facilitates the use of equipment related MRI research and will support both MRI research and clinical studies.

    The individual both operates the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, as well as stimulus delivery and subject response computers, developmental and other study support equipment.


    For MRI scanning the individual is expected to operate a 3T Philips MRI scanner, administer intravenous injections of gadolinium, take blood samples and orchestrate the placement of subjects into the scanner.

    The individual is expected to explain MRI procedures to subjects, select software options and imaging parameters when adjusting an MRI machine, view images from an imaging session and keep records of the results.

    They are expected to maneuver examination equipment, prepare patients for procedures, and be able to work with disabled patients. A radiological technician degree or training, appropriate certifications (see below) and have MRI experience.


    The individual must have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be sensitive to the physical and psychological needs of patients and subjects.

    This position requires strict attention to subject and patient safety and the limitations imposed by non-MRI compatible medical components.
