    Sr. Renewables Land Use Permitting Manager - Energy Storage

    Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)


    This an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.

    The Sr. Land Use Permitting Manager will be joining an expanding Energy Storage Project Development Team and work with Department Leaders on strategic environmental permitting initiatives (development zoning, land use, due diligence, environmental compliance, state/local level permitting ) across the portfolio. As a key member of the US Project Development Permitting Team, SME level experience supporting the advocacy of land use permits based on zoning codes at public hearings will be required. Attorney / Legal Counsel credentials are a HUGE PLUS.

    This position will play lead role working with Attorneys and Environmental Governmental Affairs stakeholders on the permitting/zoning elements of innovative complex renewable energy projects. This will be a collaborative cross-functional scope that is executed through partnerships with members of the Project Development Team on individualized environmental permitting/zoning project development plans and environmental de-risking strategies.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Plays a key role in managing multiple utility-scale energy storage projects nationwide through the full-lifecycle environmental permitting process
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Works hands-on with the Development Leads on utility-scale renewable battery storage project specific environmental permitting initiatives across the companys portfolio to ensure projects meet NTP/COD deadlines
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Develops and implements a cohesive renewable project development environmental focused permitting, zoning, and environmental management framework to evaluate new and prospective project
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Acts management leader and SME at public hearings for environmental permitting land use assessments throughout multiple stages of the project development life-cycle
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Evaluates local, state, and federal environmental permitting regulations then leads the team in drafting permitting plans (including zoning analysis) for target renewable energy project sites
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Leads land use, permitting, and zoning inquiries/public hearings related to prospective as well as active renewable energy projects. This includes stakeholder and community engagement initiatives.
    • Sr. Renewables Permitting Manager, Land Use & Environmental - Works cross-functionally with various departments to ensure consistency environmental design and project permitting requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 10+ years of experience supporting the build out of complex environmental permitting strategies including early stage development permitting zoning analysis and late stage support of the permit filing advocacy process for large renewable energy or power infrastructure projects
    • Experience with environmental zoning analysis, land entitlement, and environmental permitting plans for prospective energy infrastructure sites
    • Ability to work hands-on with Project Developers and develop presentations on permitting/environmental project risk, permit filings, and environmental development compliance requirements; Excellent communication skills
    • MUST have environmental assessment experience dealing with NEPA, wetlands, ESA Phase I, cultural resource surveys, and T&E Species reports
    • Must have a track record of success creating environmental permitting strategies that have led to project NTP/COD status
    • Ability to participate in advance level discussions in the utility-scale renewables, transmission, and battery storage space
    • Understanding of national energy markets as they relate to environmental permitting requirements PREFERRED- PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO
