Job Description

The ultrasound technologist is responsible for directing non-ionizing, high frequency waves into areas of the patient's body. The ultrasound technologist must demonstrate knowledge for interpretation of exams and ability to convey results to Radiologists and/or physicians. Ultrasound is a very operator dependent modality.

Essential Functions

Sonography Service Delivery

• Identify, record, adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Uses independent judgment during the ultrasound to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information.
• Communicates finding through ultrasound worksheet.
• Equipment and Inventory Responsibility
• Proper ultrasound probe disinfecting.
• Exhibits knowledge and competency of equipment.
• Responsible for the control of inventory.
• Assumes responsibility for assigned area and reports malfunctions as applicable.

Skills Required for Position

• Deliver an exceptional care experience for our patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
• Provides patient education.
• Utilizes EMR and RIS.
• Initiates basic life support when necessary.

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as requested.
• Participates in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings.
• Demonstrates ability to use equipment relevant to the position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not provide any direct supervision.

Require Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved (ARRT) school of Radiologic Technology and/or a Certified School of Ultrasound

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Ultrasound Experience
• 2 years of experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Skilled in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge

License, Registration, and/or Certification

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Certification Required.
• OB/GYN, abdominal, and vascular certification preferred, but not required.
