    As

    Director, Legal Counsel Intellectual Property (IP),


    supporting the Vision Care Franchiseyou will be trusted to work on intellectual property matters related to ophthalmic materials, medical devices, and manufacturing technologiesalongside our IP team in Fort Worth, TX.

    In this role, a typical day will include

    Collaborating with Alcon IP team colleagues, internal clients, and outside counsel on patentability, IP enforcement, patent validity, freedom-to-operate, IP strategy, and portfolio management.

    Identifying and leading IP generation and capture opportunities with cross-functional teams
    Analyzing and advising on IP-related risks related to Alcon products and projects.
    Leading and supporting IP management committees
    Providing legal expertise to R&D project teams
    Mining for, preparing, and prosecuting patent applications
    Providing legal counsel to support business development, licensing, and litigation activities.


    WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON
    Bachelors Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
    The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
    10 Years of Relevant Experience
    Member of a state bar in good standing.
    Preferred educational background in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering.
    Registered to practice before the United State Patent and Trademark Office.
    Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of technical fields, including chemistry and medical devices.

    Expertise in US and international patent laws and procedures, patent analysis, freedom-to-operate searching and counseling, patent portfolio management, and IP strategy.
