    The Sr. Manager develops working relationships with HORNE Construction clients to deliver top client service while also striving for technical excellence and team success by serving as Fractional CFO, Controller, and Advisor, overseeing all financial aspects of project accounting and financial reporting.

    Summary/objective

    The Sr. Manager develops working relationships with HORNE Construction clients to deliver top client service while also striving for technical excellence and team success by serving as Fractional CFO, Controller and Advisor, overseeing all financial aspects of project accounting and financial reporting.

    Essential functions

    • Builds relationships with each client throughout the year; possesses a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of client's business
    • Implements project management and workflows methods for timeliness, accuracy, quality, compliance and scope creep, while committing to professional standards
    • Oversees all accounting and financial operations of the company's construction projects, including but not limited to: project accounting, job costing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Maintains the organization's general ledger, tracking assets, liabilities, expenses, and revenues. Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and financial reporting.
    • Coordinates with internal and/or external auditors in periodic auditing or the organization's financial records and statements.
    • Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and budgets.
    • Identifies and mitigates financial risks and ensure compliance with all relevant accounting. standards and regulations, including compliance.
    • Administers policies and procedures, potentially impacting departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
    • Communicates progress of projects, problems, and resolutions to client
    • Informs HORNE leadership of project status and developments
    • Contributes insights and innovative ideas based on hard and soft trends in clients' industry
    • Accepts responsibility for accuracy of data entry, accumulation, and maintenance in all aspects of what we do as an accounting and consulting Firm.
    • Demonstrates a progression in complexity and number of projects managed
    • Perform such other duties as assigned
    Supervisory responsibilities
    • Leads and directs the work of other professionals and staff; providing guidance and support to help them accomplish their tasks.
    • Works to develop responsible, trained staff by assisting in performance evaluations
    Work environment

    Business office or client location; remote work as business needs dictate

    Physical demands
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    Travel required

    Anticipated travel 25% annually, as business needs dictate

    Required education and experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field, and 7-10 years of equivalent accounting experience required.
    • Expertise in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to set priorities with excellent time management skills
    • Enjoyment in working independently with clear deadlines and deliverables
    • Knowledge and understanding of accounting software applications such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or similar systems and accounting tools
    • Team player attitude with proven abilities to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Valid drivers license
    • Background check required
    Preferred education and experience
    • CPA License or CPA Exam eligibility
    • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller and/or CFO with management responsibilities at the organization or enterprise level
    • Business development experience, involvement in professional organizations
    • Experience working in public accounting, technology, or analytics
    • Related construction industry knowledge
