    The Opportunity This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the EP division.

    In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

    As the Staff PD Engineer, you'll have the chance to act as the subject matter expert for the process engineering team and sees products transition from development into full production.

    In this role, you will develop various processes and implement those into production through thorough validation by working closely with research/development and quality teams.

    What You'll Work OnProvides leadership to establishes processes based on product specifications.
    Evaluates process and design alternatives based on "Design for Manufacturability" principles.
    Understands principles of "Cost of Goods Sold".Manages program compliance with "Quality Control" requirements (i.e. Design Control, Process validation etc.).Understands IP issues relative to processes being developed.
    Maintains knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
    May supervise or provide work direction to other engineers and techniciansMay lead or serve as a member of cross-functional teamsUnderstands work environment issues (i.e.

    OSHA regulations, etc.).Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

    Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
    Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

    Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering8+ years engineering experiencePrevious project management and people management experienceAbility to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environmentAbility to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environmentAbility to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projectsStrong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organizationMultitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely mannerStrong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detailAbility to travel up to 10%, including possibly internationallyAbility to maintain regular and predictable attendancePreferred QualificationsExperience in full production process scale upExperience designing and testing medical devicesExperience developing manufacturing processes and technologies and designing for manufacturabilityExperience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.
