    About the Role

    We are seeking a Senior Firmware Development Engineer to join our Optical Business Unit. This role involves working independently as part of a fast-paced firmware engineering team to design and develop the next generation common platform.

    The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of firmware design, development practices, and test methodologies. As part of the common platform team, engineers will develop a fully configurable common firmware stack and collaborate with other teams like product, hardware, and test.

    Domestic and international travel is expected in this role.

    Responsibilities

    1. Drive the requirements of common firmware platforms, design, develop, and verify them.
    2. Understand the current code design, refactor the code, and test to ensure existing functionality is not broken.
    3. Design and develop code that is configurable to meet different product requirements.
    4. Address customer issues by understanding customer use cases, replicating issues in lab, collecting debug information, and solving problems using firmware design principles.
    5. Present design proposals to the team/customer, modify designs based on feedback, and continue until buy-in is obtained.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this role, you must possess:

    1. A Master's degree in computer engineering or equivalent.
    2. At least 7 years of experience in firmware design and development.
    3. Experience in improving code quality.
    4. Proficiency in C programming language and scripting languages like Python.
    5. Experience in both RTOS and bare metal code.
    6. Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.
    7. Experience in firmware development for mixed-signal environments.
    8. Experience in firmware development in the optical domain.
    9. Prior experience with version control systems, source code management, CI/CD pipelines, and build environments.
    10. Ability to work as part of a globally distributed team.

    Compensation

    This role is anticipated to pay $150,000-$180,000 per year, with variable pay opportunities issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
