    Job Description:
    Lightweight Concrete Pump Operator

    Reports To:
    Crew leader/Supervisor

    The concrete pump operator is a skilled worker responsible for operating a concrete pump that is designed to handle lightweight concrete or low-density concrete mixes.

    This type of concrete is made by incorporating lightweight aggregates such as expanded clay, shale, or perlite into the mix, resulting in concrete that is less dense and typically has improved insulation and fire resistance properties.


    Operating the Pump:
    The primary duty of a concrete pump operator is to operate the concrete pump machine. This involves starting, stopping, and controlling the flow of concrete from the pump to the desired location.

    Equipment Inspection:
    Before operating the pump, operators should conduct routine inspections of the pump equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition


    Setting up the Pump:
    Operators are responsible for setting up the concrete pump at the construction site


    Monitoring the Flow:
    During the concrete pumping process, operators need to monitor the flow of lightweight concrete. Operators often work closely with concrete truck drivers and construction site personnel.

    Effective communication is crucial to coordinate the delivery of concrete to the pump and its placement at the construction site.

    Operators must follow safety guidelines and procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe distance from the pump's moving parts.

    Light maintenance and cleaning of the concrete pump may be required, such as lubricating parts and clearing any blockages.

    Operators should be prepared to troubleshoot and address any issues that may arise during the pumping process, such as clogs, equipment malfunctions, or delivery delays.


    Quality Control:

    Operators should be familiar with the specific requirements of lightweight concrete mixes to ensure that the right mix is being pumped and placed correctly.


    Record Keeping:

    Maintaining records of pump operations, including the volume of concrete pumped and any issues encountered, is often necessary for documentation and quality control purposes.

    Ability to stand, bend, twist, and climb ladders throughout complete shift

    Adhering to all safety policies, including wearing safety harness and other required equipment Ability to stand for long periods.
