    About this Position:
    Honda is looking to welcome a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Experience Designer to be a member of our new global design and development team which is working to pivot Honda into innovative new business and product opportunities. With a focus on in-vehicle experiences that merge the digital and physical domains, we are hoping to bring unique value to our Honda customers. The SDV Experience Designer will work closely with a small team of Product Managers, Consumer Insights Analysts, Designers, Engineers, and Fabricators to create product solutions which will drive value for Honda's future business.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Provide forward-looking & innovative thinking about the future of connected vehicles. Follow a creative process for feature and experience ideation. Explore, conceptualize, and develop entire design systems, inclusive of user interfaces, connected data and interaction models compatible across screens, devices, and physical locations. The scope will involve both digital and physical sub-systems including HVAC, Seating, Lighting, Infotainment, Driving Support Systems, etc.

    • Collaborate, present, and deliver features and experiences using design specs, mood boards, flows, storyboards, wireframes, functional prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, to internal teams and key stakeholders. Construct product designs based on the requirements gathered and ideate on the project. Prioritize the product roadmap with the management team and stakeholders. Team up with consumer insights team to gather consumer data, validate concepts, test prototypes & apply findings into designs.

    • Design and present digital & physical hybrid mock-ups and clickable prototypes (non-code) of UI / UX solutions. Conduct / support user research and testing to develop insights related to new cabin experience design concepts. Mature designs based on internal and external stakeholder feedback.

    • Assist in leading the development of solutions that incorporate a high degree of product innovation, differentiating value, and competitive advantage. Communicate design concepts and themes to project stakeholders through research analysis, narrative description/wireframing, design mockups, and prototypes. Imagine, conceive of, manage, and drive ownership experience design projects from defining customer problems or opportunities to concept to implementation. Identify areas of opportunity and find creative solutions that distinguish Honda HMI experiences from competition and position Honda as the best mobility company in the world.

    Who we are seeking:

    Required Experience:
    Minimum of 3+ Years Prior experience as an experience designer with demonstrable experience in software defined vehicle experiences.
    A strong portfolio of UX design projects that demonstrate your skills and expertise.
    Required Education:
    Bachelor's or master's degree in the study of design including one of the following; Product Design, Interaction Design, UI/UX Design, Service Design, Information Architecture, Human Computer Interaction, or a portfolio that shows equivalent project experience.

    • Must be proficient and highly skilled in Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Adobe XD, ProtoPie and other design tools.

    • Customer-focused, with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights.

    • Able to take insights and define the desired customer outcomes.

    • Self-motivated, able to work independently but also collaborative and driven by group critique.

    • Proven track record as an expert in design who can collaborate well with other functions.

    • Experienced at facilitation and collaborative problem-solving techniques to drive team alignment on charter and goals, ideation, experimentation, innovation, and great user experiences.

    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong ability to communicate design concept ideas through sketches, prototypes, and wireframes.

    • Experienced and comfortable with presenting work to executives and large groups

    • Strong ability to communicate complicated concepts and bring clarity to stakeholders and team members.

    Additional Position Factors:

    • Use of basic desk and computer. Use of basic hand and cutting tools for prototyping. Light lifting, less than 30lbs.

    • OT required at times.

    • Travel in US and to Japan ~ 2x per year.
