- Provide guidance, modeling, and support to students, educators, and staff in managing challenging behaviors;
- Foster positive social and emotional development within the classroom and across programs;
- Ensure all service delivery complies with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), and Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE);
- Work with staff to ensure collaboration with parents and guardians in developing strategies for behavior management;
- Provide deescalation techniques in accordance with district protocols, as needed;
- Assist with the development and implementation of positive behavior plans;
- Provide instruction to students who are currently unable to access the curriculum;
- Assist with the creation of a holistic support system for students, including data tracking and monitoring;
- Work with staff and students to develop specific skills and strategies to help them access the curriculum;
- Participate in Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings as required and participate in the evaluation of students as needed;
- Monitor student progress; collaborate on the IEP with special education staff
- Communicate with school personnel outside of the department and with outside agencies;
- Attend student based, departmental and school-wide meetings; and
- Other duties as assigned

Description

Performance Responsibilities:
Requisite licensure as defined by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) (Special Education /Requisite Level) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement.
Have and maintain Safety Care Training.
Experience working with students in a school setting.
Experience implementing all parts of the Individual Education Program (IEP) process and educating students with disabilities.
Bachelor's degree (required); Master's degree (preferred)
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A strong commitment to helping a wide variety of culturally diverse students achieve their full potential.
Ability to support the development of culturally responsive programs and activities that promote student engagement, family engagement, community involvement and a positive school climate.
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.), Sexual Offender Record Check (S.O.R.I) and fingerprints.
