    Job Title: Forklift Operator

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Department: Warehouse-Forklift

    Reports to: Warehouse Manager

    Summary

    Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Obtains copy of Shipping or Receiving schedule for order and transports material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
    • Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks, containers, trailers or vans
    • Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility
    • Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
    • Checking loads are secure
    • Stacking empty pallets
    • Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck's battery and lubricating equipment
    • Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines
    • Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
    • Dumping materials into machine hoppers

    Direct Reports

    Qualifications:

    • Must have at least 2 years of Electric forklift, Reach truck, Stand up and electric pallet jack experience
    • Clamp truck experience preferred but not required
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
    • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
    • Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
    • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
    • Maintain a clean & safe environment
    • Must be able to use Radio Frequency (RF) scanner gun
    • Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator's license may be required
    • Forklift certification per OSHA standards preferred but not requirement

    Physical demands and abilities

    • Regularly sitting or standing on a powered industrial truck
    • May frequently lift up to 55 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
    • Having a good sense of balance
    • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
    • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
    • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
    Forklift Operator Job Description

    Job Summary
    Responsible for the timely loading and unloading of both inbound and outbound freight, order selection, sanitation, trailer and freight inspection, any and all duties having to do with the day-to-day operation in a warehousing/distribution environment.


    Job Responsibilities
    - Previous experience and certification preferred in the operation of Hi-Lo and Reach forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
    - Responsible for loading, unloading, storing, stacking and transport of all warehouse freight as assigned.
    - When shipping and/or receiving cases, must handle, pick and count as necessary.
    - Prior use of RF Scanners is a plus.
    - May be asked to perform duties of a Laborer including counting, manual packing/ repacking/palletizing product, sweeping and general housekeeping duties as required to maintain the warehouse.

    Job Requirements

    Skills
    - Applicants must be able to carry 15 to 50 pounds for short periods and capable of getting onto/off a sit-down forklift.
    - Other physical requirements include walking, standing, bending, lifting for 8 hours.
    - Willingness to follow all safety practices and other compliance requirements as trained.
    - Willing to submit to a background check and drug screening.
