Position Purpose:
Early Childhood faculty members are integral members of the Mountain Academy community at Teton Science Schools. They implement Place-Based education, drawing inspiration from nature-based learning practices and the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
The faculty's focus is on inspiring children to learn, fostering community building, nurturing curiosity, and developing social and emotional skills.
The collaborative work environment at TSS expects faculty members to contribute as team members while also taking initiative in autonomous work.
The Young Toddler and Toddler Faculty collaborate to create safe and inviting environments for the youngest community members, providing stimulating experiences each day.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred or at least 2 years of experience in a relevant field
Effective communication with internal and external constituents
Ability to manage risk and make leadership decisions
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Google Apps
Strong speaking and written communication skills
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Able to sit on the floor, be outside in all types of weather, and lift heavy objects, including young children
Daily outdoor activities with young children exploring the play yard and campus
May work evenings, weekends, or overtime to support special programs/events
Ability to change diapers and attend to the needs of children aged 18 months - 36 months
Responsibilities:
Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment:
Develop and document curriculum, creating inviting and stimulating learning experiences
Provide necessary care for young children, including diaper changes, bottle preparation, feeding, and changing clothes
Document children's learnings and growth throughout the year
Maintain a dynamic, engaging, and organized classroom environment
Maintain State of Wyoming Statewide Training and Resource System (STARS) hours
Advisory:
Act as advisor and point of contact for families
Communicate with parents about student successes, challenges, and other updates
Participate in planning and conducting 2 learning team conferences a year (fall and spring)
Team:
Collaborate on integrated projects and intentions
Complete duties:
leading meetings, lunch, rest time, story, and cleaning
Provide internal coverage if substitutes are not available
Participate in Professional Development opportunities throughout the year
Align with team culture and goals
One TSS Responsibilities:
Further development of practice and implementation of place-based education pedagogies
Participate in various greater TSS programs - PBE symposium, engagement sessions, etc.
Contribute to inclusive work and learning environments through continual development of cultural competency
