    Title: Firmware Engineer, Instrument Firmware

    Location: Santa Clara, CA

    Job Term: Full Time

    About the Role: Are you a tech enthusiast excited about pioneering work in instrument firmware? If so, Picarro has an exciting opportunity for a Firmware Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of instrument firmware for Picarro's cutting-edge instruments that are used in various industries such as semiconductor manufacturing and air quality monitoring.

    Qualifications:
    • You possess advanced skills in creating instrument control software using Python and/or C, C++.
    • You are adept at asyncio, threading, multiprocessing, and interfacing with low-level drivers, firmware & hardware.
    • You have a keen understanding of Python's capabilities and limitations and prioritize testing and clean code.
    • You are a collaborative team player, always eager to dive into new challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.
    • You are self-motivated with a hunger for exploration and problem-solving.
    Key Skills and Responsibilities:

    * Proficient in Python, C, and C++ for instrument control systems.
    * Designing next-generation instrument architectures and systems.
    * Evolving and enhancing instrument firmware codebase.
    * Experience in embedded firmware development with analog and digital I/O capabilities, FPGA, DSP, and microcontrollers.
    * Expertise in hardware design languages like Verilog and VHDL.
    * Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, Ethernet, RS232.
    * Familiarity with narrowband and broadband lasers is a plus.
    * Understanding of materials physics and gas analysis is an advantage.

    Requirements:
    * Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related field with relevant experience.
    * Previous experience leading software teams.
    * Proficiency in Python3, Linux, and embedded development.
    * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    * Excellent communication skills.
    * Background in optical absorption spectroscopy and gas phase physics preferred.

    Salary Range & Benefits:
    $170,000- $195,000 per year. Your compensation will be determined based on your qualifications, experience, and market standards. The role also includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K, paid time off, and more.
