*Duration: *3 Months to long term

*Shifts: *7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

*Job Description:

• Provides evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices and techniques of general nursing care as determined by Standards of Practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Screens for sick call, administers medications, and provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed.
• Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan.
• Records all pertinent information into the medical record.
• Interfaces with other departments as needed.
• Promotes continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
• Nurses must have the ability to work hours, days and locations as assigned along with being capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs.

*Organizational Objective:

• Provide total health care to offenders (routine, chronic and emergent care), maintaining continuity of care from admission to discharge in a correctional facility Safe medication administration following DOC policy Provide employee health services in accordance with policy Follows operational policies/procedures, Health Services guidelines/policies, ACA standards of care, and Board of Health professionals' scope of practice Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license .
