    IBJI currently has full time openings for a Clinical Assistant (AT-C, CMA, EMT, ER Tech, Phlebotomist, CNA) as part of our Near North Region

    The Clinical Assistant will perform administrative and clinical duties on a daily basis to facilitate efficient operations in an outpatient clinic setting.

    The Clinical Assistant will support our Physicians/Providers in providing safe, quality care and excellent customer service to patients.
    Responsibilities

    There may be variations in the duties and responsibilities of the Clinical Assistant determined by the specialty and the physician with whom he/she works.


    The clinical assistant, which is comprised of the any professional category that has the qualifications to run a physicians clinic, plays a vital role in our organization as well as the clinical department.

    This individual is responsible for managing the day-to-day needs of a specific physician's practice.
    This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee will also perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the physicians, administrator and the clinical manager.

    Primary Clinical Functions
    Manage/Coordinate clinical schedule for physician
    Assist with exams/treatments, injections etc
    Anticipate doctor's needs in patient care
    Remove casts/assist with application of casts/splints/braces
    Apply casts as directed by physician
    Apply braces/soft goods to patients
    Educate patients in the use/care of braces/soft goods
    Customize universal braces for specific patients
    Take patient histories
    Assess patient's condition and direct patient to appropriate care
    Request Xrays per physician protocol according to history of patient injury/illness
    Explain physician orders/instructions to patients
    Order tests/labs based on MD/PA direction
    Educate patients in the treatment plan regarding their diagnosis
    Chart in the EHR
    Perform Meaningful Use screenings
    Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms/nursing stations/patient areas
    Provide physician with all pertinent information needed for a patient's surgery (xrays etc)
    Address new prescriptions or refills based on MD/PA direction/protocol
    Obtain RQI for radiology services.
    Contact appropriate person to maintain/repair/replace equipment
    Write letters of medical necessity
    Complete disability/handicapped forms as instructed by the physician
    Fax labs/H&Ps/consents to surgery
    Order supplies/inventory if assigned
    Stock clinical supplies
    Schedule surgeries with appropriate facility
    Educate patients regarding their surgeries
    Answer voice mail messages and patient calls in a timely manner.
    Report to physician any patient problems or concerns
    Answer Coumadin calls (RNs/LPNs only)
    Document all patient contacts, phone calls with appropriate name and credentials
    Follow HIPAA guidelines when working with patients
    Respect patients privacy within the office setting
    Act as a liaison between physician and patient
    Maintain standard of patient care as directed by physicians and managers
    Function within OSHA regulations/Change Red bags/Sharps containers
    General Duties
    Attend all clinical meetings
    Attend continuing education seminars to maintain licensure.
    Assist other clinical staff when necessary
    Conduct

    The physicians and management of IBJI expect that the clinical assistant will conduct his/herself in a manner which is at all times, courteous, professional and promotes a positive image of IBJI.

    The clinical assistant will at times be called upon to act as the physician's representative, and as such will set the example for other employees in dependability, punctuality, positive attitude and adherence to policies and procedures.


    Requirements:
    Experience in orthopaedic or rheumatology medicine preferred.
    Graduate of an accredited certification program (CNA/EM-T/CMA/ATC).
    Able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
    Able to function as a team leader.
    Must be physically able to assist patients during ambulation and examination.

    Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of a changing scheduling environment and accommodate the needs of the practice.

    Possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. Able to interact with computers to enter data or process information.
    Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
    Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to document/record information.

    Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients and staff in all levels in the organization.

    Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
    Capable of prioritizing and organizing information to achieve a smooth flow of tasks.
    Ability to interpret and explain an extensive variety of instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
    Work may require hand dexterity for phlebotomy, office machine operation, using calculator and/or computer keyboard.

    Physical demands may also include stooping, bending or reaching to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands or deliveries, standing or sitting for extended periods of time and viewing a computer monitor.
