    Basic Function

    As a Development Coordinator, you'll play a crucial role in our organization, working under the Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice President to enhance donor relations and ensure the success of our development initiatives.

    Your main tasks will involve orchestrating resources and efforts to support our goals for annual funds, capital, and endowments.

    You will create compelling narratives to attract donor support, collaborate with our team to advance development strategies, and research and identify key supporters.

    Your leadership will be key in managing development projects and campaigns, planning and executing fundraising events, and maintaining effective communication with leadership and stakeholders to achieve our fundraising objectives.

    Principle Role and Responsibilities

    Assist the Chief Development Officer (CDO) in crafting compelling communication materials to support various fundraising campaigns, including the annual fund.

    Coordinate the efforts of staff, volunteers, and development committee members to enhance development activities.
    Conducted research, managed databases, and developed prospect lists for fundraising initiatives.

    Work closely with the CDO to build and maintain effective fundraising strategies and plans to meet strategic objectives and funding needs across multiple channels (mail, email, major donors, online giving, etc.).

    Support the execution of development strategies, ensuring follow-up, responsibility assignments, and accountability.
    Manage major donor/prospect lists, coordinate cultivation strategies, and schedule engagements with new and existing supporters.
    Track donor progression from initial engagement to long-term support, overseeing goals for various giving levels.
    Provide administrative support for the Development Committee, managing logistics and ensuring effective communication and reporting.

    Proven success in nonprofit fundraising or relevant skills from sales, promotions, or marketing.
    Experience with donor or customer databases.
    Strong relationship building skills and enjoyment in meeting new people.
    Exceptional attention to detail, project management skills, and adherence to deadlines.
    Ability to interact confidently across all organizational levels.
    Excellent oral communication, public speaking, and active listening skills.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Donor Management Software.
    Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
    Education and Experience
    Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Communications).
    2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or related roles preferred.
    2 years of experience in event planning or coordination.
    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    This position is a hybrid position that requires a weekly commitment of one to two days of onsite presence in our Silver Spring, MD, office.

    While the role follows our standard working hours, we may require your expertise during peak periods or for special events.
