    Description

    At Houston Methodist, the Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for developing initiatives to enhance performance and patient safety. The role involves fostering organization-wide awareness of the quality and patient safety program, ensuring timely resolution of patient care issues, and serving as a valuable resource for quality improvement activities throughout all levels of the organization.

    PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Collaborates with Education to educate staff on new quality programs, regulatory standards, and performance improvement processes.
    • Engages in interdisciplinary cooperation for hospital-wide patient safety, performance improvement, and data management functions.

    SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Leads accreditation readiness efforts and participates in surveys.
    • Acts as a basic data analysis resource, preparing reports and facilitating committee meetings.
    • Coordinates quality and patient safety committee activities for the hospital.

    QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Ensures all programs comply with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Analyzes and maintains data integrity, providing reports and feedback to support performance improvement.
    • Reviews inpatient records to uphold quality indicators and identifies areas for enhancement.
    EDUCATION
    • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Nursing required
    WORK EXPERIENCE
    • Three years of experience in a hospital or outpatient clinical role
    • One year of experience in quality management, patient safety, or similar roles
    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
    • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 90 days OR
    • RN-Temp - Registered Nurse - Temporary State Licensure within 90 days
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Demonstrates necessary skills to perform the job safely
    • Effective communication and leadership qualities
    • Proficiency in statistical analysis, performance improvement methodologies, and patient safety principles
    • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently
