    We offer you a career with a future and the chance to make a lasting difference in your community. We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, experienced Aquatics Director that will be responsible for all Aquatic operations.
    The aquatics director oversees the management of programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development and financial development.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
    Establish strategic direction/vision for operations of an indoor pool, aquatic programming, CPR/FA training.
    Recruits, hires, trains and supervises all aquatic staff including: lifeguards, swim instructors, First Aid/CPR instructors.
    Oversees development and delivery of quality aquatics programs (including swim lessons).
    Develop, manage and monitor department budget of approximately $100,000.
    Maintains records and prepares reports regarding programs and operations as needed; ensures compliance with all state and county regulations.
    Ensures excellent customer/member service and meet Association standards.
    Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign.
    Participates in branch volunteer committees and advisory board. Develop promotions that recruit and develop aquatic participants.
    Participates and provides leadership in Association Aquatics cabinet to ensure consistency and quality in aquatic programs and facilities.

    Establish vision and systems that ensure safety across all aquatic endeavors; lead collaboratively to provide systems that achieve sanitary conditions, safe environments, program excellence, and member service excellence.


    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in Aquatics and/or recreation preferred.
    Current Lifeguarding Certification, which includes First Aid, CPR professional level, and Emergency Oxygen Administration (YMCA Lifeguarding preferred).
    2 years continuous experience in lifeguarding and instructing swim lessons in a group environment
    Experience working with children and adults.
    Experience supervising and training adults.
    Strong organizational and communication skills.
    Pool filtration and maintenance experience preferred.
    YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred.
    Supervising a staff team preferred.
    Experience managing a budget preferred.
    Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children. Monitors building, staff and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.
    Employees must wear a proper facial mask/covering at all times while inside any YMCA facility. Masks are not required when working outdoors.

    Participants will encounter staff and programs that will allow the development of human potential and build good health and promote positive self-esteem and safety.

    Behaviors of staff and volunteers will reflect the characteristics of welcoming, nurturing, genuine, determined, and hopeful.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Ability to pass lifeguard water test.
    Must be able to remain alert.
    Tolerate heat and humidity for extended periods of time
    Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
    Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.
    Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.
    Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
    Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.


    STATUS:
    Full-time, Exempt


    STARTING SALARY:
    $47,000 – based on experience
    Education Requirements (Any)

    Bachelor's Degree or commensurate work experience in Aquatics and/or recreation preferred

    Certification Requirements (Any)

    2 years continuous experience in lifeguarding and instructing swim lessons in a group environment
    YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification preferred.
    YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred.
