    The Laboratory Techician will perform tasks related to molecular genetics testing of clinical samples for the tests offered by the CooperGenomics laboratory as well as standard assignments of a clinical laboratory setting. This role is a part of the Genomics laboratory operations and involves interaction with other members of the laboratory as well as customer service and genetic counseling within the organization.

    Responsibilities
    • Receives and verifies clinical samples and accessions specimens according to their standard operating procedure.
    • Performs associated laboratory maintenance (i.e. cleaning, unpack supplies, annual/bi-annual/monthly maintenance of equipment).
    • Performs clerical tasks associated with clinical cases, including but not limited to: maintenance of specimen and case logs, preparation/documentation of assay worksheets, preparation of analysis sheets and clinical reports.
    • Perform routine laboratory procedures according to standard operating procedures (i.e. batching samples, set up/finish automated assays).
    • Witnesses hands-on clinical procedures.
    • Responsible for the accurate accounting of inventory including receiving, processing, recording and distributing supplies and materials.
    • Performs additional duties or assignments as directed by management.
    Qualifications

    Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in the Sciences
    • Ability to understand and apply safety standards and good laboratory practices
    • Working knowledge using Microsoft Office suite of applications
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • High level of attention detail
    • Frequent reaching grasping, repetitive motions and eye/hand coordination.
    • Ability to work in environmental conditions typical in office and/or clinical laboratory environments
    • Variable shift times/rotating days may be required.
