    Description
    Job Title: CNC Controls Engineer
    Location: Wixom MI
    Duration: Long term contract to hire.
    Responsibilities:
    • Write complex CNC and PLC programs for machine tools
    • Design and layout of new electrical and CNC control systems for retrofit and remanufacture of machine tools and specialized machines
    • Assist with the construction of complex detailed bills of materials
    • Instruct and support electrical technicians, electrical engineers, sales engineers, and customers as required
    • Document preliminary and finalized CNC and PLC programs
    • Work closely with electrical technicians to ensure a safe and reliable control system for all machines
    • Research and develop new and improved control systems and products
    • Assist in all aspects of the business that are electrical and control related
    • Design and layout of high voltage schematics and I/O
    • Write and repair high-level ladder circuits, structured text programs, and parametric programs
    • Assist with final troubleshooting of all electrical and control systems
    • Assist Purchasing with ordering of CNC control packages
    • Daily dealings with management, engineers, inspectors, and electrical technicians
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Able to travel to customer sites for project related work
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors, Associates Degree, or technical training in Electrical Engineering or related curriculum
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and CNC related software
    • Strong background in Siemens and/or Fanuc Control Systems (or others) with working knowledge of old and new CNC systems. We like well-rounded backgrounds but Siemens Sinumerik 840D experience is highly preferred.
    • Automotive experience
    • Ability to power up and troubleshoot a wide variety of machine tool control problems
    • Advanced level of machine tool control programming ability and knowledge
    • Working knowledge of machine tool applications
    • Strong working knowledge of analog and digital servo systems
    • Ability to work closely with electrical technicians and others to develop safe and reliable control systems
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    Additional Details:
    We are looking to add a Controls Engineer with CNC controls experience to our team based out of Wixom, MI. This person may initially spend some time at the GM Toledo plant to wrap up a project. From there, they will work on a mix of local and travel projects. The person should be open to likely at least 50% travel. We would highly prefer someone who knows both Siemens 840D and FANUC CNC controls. If they only know one, we will still look at them. This is a critical role for us as we recently lost our most senior level CNC Controls Engineer. Long term contract to hire.
