- Fabricate dies using complex machinery such as drill presses, manual lathes and grinders
- Use sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency
- Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, comparators, and micrometers
- Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs and dies
- Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform necessary repairs to tooling and dies
- Set up and operate all department machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, rotary tables; monitors and adjusts mechanical processes as required.
- Set pyrometer controls of heat treating furnaces, and place parts, tools, or assemblies into furnaces to harden.
- Experience working with close tolerances .
- Excellent technical skills, with the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of gages, precision measuring instruments, and all necessary inspection equipment.
- Has working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
- Experience working with a wide range tool steels.
- Must be able to stand for shift durations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Excellent visual accuracy.
