    Hours:
    Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; additional hours as scheduled

    Salary:
    Minimum $47,107; dependent on experience


    POSITION SUMMARY


    This position acts as the Lead for Permit Technicians and duties include: schedules and organizes regular tasks, ensures preparation of monthly reports, assists with administration of TrakIt.

    Trains, reviews and ensures quality and accuracy of work by permit staff. Acts as Lead for more complex submission and point of contact for other departments.

    This position works under general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.


    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serves as lead for all Permit Technicians.
    • Responsible for participating in permitting activities to include organizing, prioritizing, and delegating staff assignments; assisting with training and monitoring activities for quality and efficiency; and preparing weekly and monthly reports.
    • Conducts employee performance evaluations, development opportunities, and employee discipline measures.
    • Approves leave requests and timesheets.
    • Oversees and recommends improvements to work methods, techniques, and systems to ensure the efficient delivery of services to the public, reviewing work assignments and coordinating functions within the permitting area.
    • Serves as first point of contact as well as performs the more complex plan submittals and permitting software.
    • Performs administrative duties for Building Inspections and Code Enforcement.
    • Coordinates and routes applications between the divisions of the department.
    • Reviews permit applications for accuracy and approves in a timely manner.
    • Assists the general public in person and over the telephone with questions, requirements, and complaints regarding the various permits that are issued by the Department.
    • Assists Building Official with phone calls, meetings, forms, reports, etc.
    • Assists Building Inspectors with customer needs, phone calls, CO's, inspection request, etc.
    • Logs in plans and assists with communication between architects and Building Official.
    • Issues Certificate of Occupancies.
    • Keeps up with minimum code requirements to assist with plan review of applications.
    • Works closely with LLR regarding licensure requirements for contractors.
    • Administrator for Trakit - adding users, adjusting requirements for permits, troubleshoot and report any technical issues to developer, serve as point of contact for software company and department.
    • Point of contact for finance department for resolving any daily reporting discrepancies.

    Additional Duties:

    • Performs general administrative/office duties as required, including typing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, etc.
    • Continually stays up to date on all policy, procedure, and/or process changes.
    • Completes all work accurately, safely, and efficiently.
    • Keeps work area clean and safe.
    • Maintains any assigned equipment in safe and good operating condition.
    • Reports to Supervisor any suggested improvements or areas of concern.
    • Ensures professionalism and exceptional customer service during all interactions while performing job representing the City of Greer.
    • Exhibits strong ethical standards; ability to create trust and integrity with co-workers, customers, and community.
    • Adheres to Employee Handbook and other relevant policies and procedures.
    • Maintains regular and sustained attendance.
    • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED


    • High School Diploma/GED.
    • Five years of experience in administrative or clerical setting preferably within the engineering, construction, or building codes field; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Experience in Word and Excel necessary.
    • Must obtain Permit Technician Certification through ICC within two years of hire.
    • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
