Job Summary:

Yard associates are responsible for upholding a positive image of C & M Lumber Company, Inc. by delivering exceptional customer service in line with company values. The primary duty of a yard associate is to support customers and uphold a well-organized and clean lumberyard. They should demonstrate a willingness to continuously learn and broaden their understanding of the retail sector. Their role will encompass, but not limited to, the following duties:

Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service by aiding customers, both in person and over the phone, addressing their inquiries, guiding them to products, and suggesting additional purchases that can assist them in completing their projects. This may also involve managing special orders.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems to facilitate price checks, special orders, and order processing.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers by upholding a tidy and well-maintained lumberyard, including necessary housekeeping activities.
• Inform customers about upcoming promotions and new offerings.
• Support in conducting regular inventory checks.
• Aid in loading customers' vehicles and verify invoices to ensure accurate product delivery.
• Collaborate in the regular maintenance and organization of lumber stacks.
• Assist the yard team with miscellaneous tasks as required.
• Remain attentive to spot potential shoplifting and other forms of theft. Take suitable measures as per store protocols.
• Participate in all staff gatherings.
• Comply with all store regulations and safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Exceptional customer service capabilities and a professional demeanor.
• A proficient understanding of the store's products with a readiness to further enhance knowledge.
• Organized, proactive individual who can think autonomously and tackle challenges.
• Proficient in math, reading, writing, and communication.
• Familiarity with effective sales strategies and methods.
• Competent in the safe operation of a forklift.
• Capable of regularly lifting up to 80lbs.
