    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists with routine and daily medical needs of the children.
    • Refers children to site physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner as needed for medical care and assists with transfers to a specialist or hospital.
    • Assists in identification of children deemed at risk of harm to self or others to site mental health professional.
    • Maintains medical case file with appropriate documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
    • Assists with the operation of the medical clinic.
    • Works closely with case managers and mental health providers.
    • Provides group education on various safety and disease prevention topics to children.
    • Receives / renders shift report to outgoing / incoming shift.
    • Collaborates with inter/intra departmental personnel within the shelter (e.g. all medical staff, mental health providers, case managers) to enhance plan of care.
    • Assists with the managing of daily medical operations and prioritizing tasks.
    • Monitors vital signs and communicates the information to Medical Provider/RN.
    • Accurate documentation in medical record, medication administration record, SharePoint, other contract databases, and SIR documentation according to training guidelines.
    • Utilizes Acuity computer to access e-mail, electronic documentation, and other job specific requirements.
    • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
    • Provides emergency medical and first aid care to children under supervision of medical providers.
    • Complies with standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations
    • Assist LVN/RN to perform lice/scabies assessment and intervention.
    • Assists Charge Nurse with Coordination of children's hospital transfers, TARs, dentist, and/or optometrist specialties.
    • Protects children and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures.
    • Maintains confidentiality of all children's health care.
    • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings to improve quality and outcomes, communicates issues, obtains approvals, resolves problems, and maintains specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
    • Complies with all applicable Acuity and contract standards and guidelines.
    • Participates in development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long-term planning; develops and implements projects and programs to help accomplish established goals.
    • Establishes a professional working relationship with onsite client representatives.
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to ensure continuous operations.
    • Participates in ongoing meetings, conferences, and training programs as required.
    • Educates the children on disease process, medication regimen, and healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Adheres to confidentiality, HIPAA, and non-disclosure agreement, related to children and shelter operations, always, both on and off work (i.e., media and social media postings).
    • Must be able to perform CPR/first aid, if necessary.
    • Assists during transition and movement of children from one activity to the next and one physical location to another, if necessary.
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to ensure continuous operations

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • May participate in interdepartmental project groups or task forces to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, contract awards, and new policy requirements
    • Performs duties in a safe manner.
    • Follows the corporate safety policy
    • Supports marketing and sales objectives and efforts as requested.
    • Ensures safe operating conditions within responsibility.
    • Encourages co-workers to work safely.
    • Identifies "close calls" and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
    • Participates in and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
    • May serve and/or assist in the active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, HIPAA, Joint Commission, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly break /work areas.


    QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Degree from an accredited Nursing school.
    • Active, valid, and unrestricted license in the state of service.
    • Minimum of two (2) years in Health Care experience as a CNA working in pediatrics or adolescent medicine or six months of previous ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement) Shelter experience
    • Have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Fluent in English and Spanish (speak, read, write, and comprehend).
    • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
    • Show proficiency in using basic word processing programs and the Acuity electronic medical record system.
    • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
    • Available to work full time hours with multiple shifts, including holidays and weekends, and on call.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 360 Suite and experience with Deltek CostPoint suite.
    • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and be organized.
    • Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations (Emergency Task Order or Cooperative Agreement).
    • Able to receive and understand detailed information through oral communication.
    • Must have the capacity to adapt to diverse situations.
    • Clean criminal background check.
    • Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (C/AN) or child protective services check.
    PREFERRED

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Minimum of three (3) years Health Care experience as a CNA working in pediatrics or adolescent medicine or one year of previous ORR Shelter experience.
    • Two years of experience in emergency medicine, family medicine, or pediatrics.
    • Clinical experience in a residential setting.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
    • Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with weather (rain, lightning, extreme heat, and winds).
    • Able to withstand and manipulate through construction areas, sports fields, etc.
    • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
    • Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors throughout the entire duration of their shift period, which lasts 8 hours or more on a typical shift.
    • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, or stoop for the entire duration of the shift, as necessary.
    • Must be prepared and physically able to respond with appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with clients of 13-17 years in age.
    • In a sudden or emergency, staff must always be physically able to run, jump, lunge, twist, push, pull, and assist evacuating an adolescent to safety.
    • Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one's fitness to care for youth if accommodations are required satisfactorily and safely.
    • Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of children and staff activities.
