Tasks / Responsibilities:

• Negotiates pricing and payment terms of supplier agreements. Evaluates alternative sources for cost reductions, lead time reductions, and quality improvements
• Forecasts and plans advancement blanket orders, and coordinates both internally and externally.
• Analyzes inventory positions to maintain adequate safety stock levels.
• Performs quarterly safety stock analysis and presents updated models to management.
• Drives cost reduction strategies and manages vendor price increases.
• Monitors vendor performance to meet on-time delivery expectations.
• Proactively identifies alternative sources for components and raw materials.
• Establishes competitive freight agreements through negotiations.
• Manages vendor relationships and engagements.
• Sources and expedites materials for high-level projects and new product development.
• Provides support to Project Management and Engineering related to sourcing and component negotiations for customer bids.
• Communicates effectively and escalates any material delays.
• Maintains updated vendor and item ERP system data.
• Ensures department documentation is up to date, including procedures, vendor agreements, contact information, and quotes.
• Makes recommendations for continuous process efficiencies.
• Acts as a backup for other members of the Supply Chain Team.
• Offers additional support and assistance to Supply Chain Management as needed.

Key Must Have's:

• Experience in multitasking within a manufacturing environment.
• 3-5 years in a buyer role in a purchasing department in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Sourcing.
• Preferred experience with Flat and Rolled steel, but not mandatory.
• Experience with Electrical components is beneficial.
• Ability to manage supplier agreements and negotiations.
• Buying experience in other commodities including Manufacturing, Pharma, Aerospace, or Medical industries.
• Proficiency in ERP systems.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Familiarity with Crystal Reports.
• Experience with Power BI is advantageous, Lean techniques are a plus.
• Knowledge of APICS, ISM, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications is beneficial.
• Possess a strong sense of urgency when interacting with vendors and material expedites.
• Understanding of MRP, safety stock modeling, and forecasting.
