    Turnkey Industries has designed and built state-of-the-art trailers and transporters for a variety of industries.     We are seeking a motivated, qualified individual to join our company as a Chassis Prep Technician who will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality of customized trailers are built with precision and adhere to the highest quality standards. This position will partner with a team of professionals to install and maintain various vehicle systems on the chassis of new builds. All work will be performed in accordance with applicable guidelines, Company safety procedures, Department of Transportation (DOT) standards, OSHA regulations.

    First shift hours are 6am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, with weekends as job demands.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assemble trailer chassis components, including frame rails, crossmembers, landing gear, and various vehicle systems according to engineering specifications
    • Perform inspections and repairs on trailer chassis to ensure structural integrity and safe operation
    • Assemble DOT air suspension systems and ensure trailers meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements
    • Inspect, repair, and maintain brake systems, including hydraulic and air brakes
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain trailer electrical systems, including lights and wiring
    • Inspect, repair, and replace axles and hubs, ensuring correct alignment and functionality
    • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints for assembly and installation
    • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in compliance with company and DOT requirements
    • Work closely with other team members, including welders, fabricators, and engineers, to ensure smooth operations and meet production schedules
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment and ensure employees follow safety guidelines and perform duties in a safe manner
    • Observe all safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions, and properly use equipment
    • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
    Requirements
    • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • One (1) or more years of experience as a trailer mechanic, with a focus on chassis and DOT compliance
    • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
    • Basic reading and writing skills
    • Must have own tools appropriate for position
    Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities
    • Thoroughly understand and adhere to DOT regulations and standards, ensuring all trailers meet compliance requirements
    • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, including hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems
    • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred
    • Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of mechanical and technical information
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documents
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
    • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
    • Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines
    • Demonstrate the ability to safely set up, operate, and maintain tools and equipment
    • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership
    • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
    • Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies in the field.
    • Physical stamina required for position and the ability to lift and / or move objects that weight 50 pounds or more
    • The ability to work in various weather conditions - heat, cold, etc.
