    Position Overview:

    The Director of Security's primary responsibility is to oversee security and safety for the campuses of Change Church including Georgia and New Jersey. This position oversees development and implementation of security and safety practices, ensures compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations, develops volunteers and provides training. This role ensures secure and safe environments for the weekend services, staff, children and students, volunteers and guests and property assets.

    Core Competencies:

    • Security Management: Proficiency in developing and implementing comprehensive security plans, policies, and procedures to safeguard the church premises, congregation, and staff.Threat Assessment: Ability to assess potential security risks and vulnerabilities, conducting risk assessments, and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
    • Emergency Response: Knowledge and experience in developing emergency response plans, coordinating drills, and effectively responding to critical incidents, such as medical emergencies, natural disasters, or security breaches.
    • Team Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage and train a team of security personnel, volunteers, or staff members involved in security operations, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Physical Security: Familiarity with access control systems, video surveillance, alarm systems, and other physical security technologies to maintain a safe and secure environment.
    • Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high-stress situations, coordinating with law enforcement agencies, and providing guidance to the congregation and staff in crisis scenarios.
    • Communication and Conflict Resolution: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish positive relationships with church members, staff, and visitors, and effectively address conflicts or security concerns that may arise.
    • Training and Education: Capability to develop and deliver security training programs for church staff and volunteers, educating them on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and situational awareness.
    • Community Engagement: Willingness to collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, security professionals, and community organizations to stay informed about security best practices and foster a safe environment for the church and its surrounding community.
    • Ethical Conduct: Commitment to upholding ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring the security practices align with the church's values and mission.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
    • Serve in excellence by being early and prepared for all scheduled meetings.
    • Establish and foster an exemplary relationship with staff/non-staff workers, church membership, and the community at large.
    • Demonstrate a servant's heart by having a willingness to perform other duties as needs may arise.
    • Lead by providing direction to leadership, campus teams on various security and safety plans, issues, and incidents to provide a secure environment.
    • Ensure the Executive Protection Specialist provides pastoral staff protection and coordinates the movement and safety of the lead pastor, his family, guest speakers, and others as needed at church sponsored services and or events.
    • Maintain and expand fully functioning volunteer teams, which includes recruiting, training, overseeing the security and medical team.
    • Work with various church ministry teams to develop and implement security and safety procedures to minimize inherent risks.
    • Develop, document, and ensure adequate staff and volunteer training on security and safety policies and procedures including but not limited to severe weather, fire, active shooter, firearms, bomb, kidnapping and evacuation plans.
    • Oversees all Access Control, Card Entry, Intrusion Detection, radios, and fire suppression technology programs at all campuses.
    • Participate in annual budget preparation to ensure adequate funds for the operation of the security and safety programs.
    • Produce and maintain purchase orders for security and safety equipment for all campuses and process all payment requests.
    • Conduct risk assessments of premises for burglary, robbery, theft, fire and severe weather.
    • Implement processes and procedures for mail screening (i.e., bombs, dangerous materials).
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for law enforcements, fire, and EMS incidents. Responsible for leading documenting all internal investigations impacting church property, personnel, sponsored events, and activities.
    • Provide safe and secure transportation of offertory for bank deposit.
    • Help conduct interviews on background checks for Change employees and volunteers; and assist with the interviewing and vetting of all volunteer guest service positions (security, ushers, greeters, parking, etc.).
    • Coordinate in security training for hosts, parking teams, etc.
    • Oversight of the day-to-day security at ATL campuses.
    • Arrange proper security and safety for Next Gen spaces.
    • Regularly assess campuses to evaluate needed security and safety services.
    • Maintain current knowledge of church related violence in the United States.
    • Monitor weather during services and events for potential threats from nature.
    • Conduct investigations of accidents or incidents on church property.
    • Promote employee safety at work.
    • Develop building exit plans for fire, active shooter, etc. responses.
    • Co-ordinate First Responder staffing for services and events.
    • Responsible for designing, overseeing, and staffing of campus traffic and parking lot processes. Partners with law enforcement to enforce traffic violations on private property.
    • Develop and oversee the deployment of a child protection policy and mandated reporting process that is compliant with relevant state laws.
    • Required to possess the legal ability to carry a firearm and exhibit proficiency.
    Experience and Knowledge Required:
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Criminal Justice or related field from four-year college or university preferred; or one to two years of related training; or equivalent combination of education and training.
    • Completion of Dignitary Protection course preferred.
    • Five years of related experience required. Related experience includes law enforcement or public safety experience, investigative and supervisory experience, monitoring (surveillance) systems, working knowledge of latest security protocols, proficiency in control techniques for hostile persons and ability to recognize and react to hostile/hazardous events and persons.
