    Description
    Diagnostic Sonographer
    Performs diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation. The only registration requirement for this position is as a registered sonographer appropriate for the department in which the sonographer works.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Adjusts equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
    • Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures.
    • Performs routine and complex studies and assists in imaging procedures.
    • Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
    • Ensures equipment is functioning properly, reporting potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
    • Submits high-quality images and documents to PACS, ensuring images are labeled correctly and patient data/history is accurate.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and other areas.
    • Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.
    • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

    Education:
    • Associate's degree or completion of a sonography certification program.

    Experience:
    • No experience required.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Constant standing and walking.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Rare kneeling and sitting.

    Required Licenses and Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
    • Or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
    • Or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
