    The Assistant Vice President – Home Office Claim (AVP) is a key position which operates with a great deal of autonomy and allows for significant input and influence to the short- and long-term direction and success of the organization. The AVP embraces the importance of attracting, developing, and retaining talent and leads by example in this space. They consistently demonstrate the ability to strategically and collaboratively establish and achieve goals which support corporate and department initiatives. This innovative, results oriented leader will create and support an environment that drives high levels of employee engagement, delivers strong customer experiences and optimal file outcomes. The AVP has accountability for leading a large Auto Claim organization across multiple offices.

    • The AVP of Claims Auto is a senior leadership position that oversees the claim handling of our largest line of business. Role includes leadership of a majority of the Claim team and includes five regional offices.
    • As a member of the Senior Management team, leads the strategic plans for Claims auto organization and also partners with other non-Claim business areas in support of their business goals.
    • Leadership for loss cost initiatives with proven track-record of building strategies, with successful execution, that reduces loss cost.
    • Drives improvements to loss costs which achieve positive loss trends and exceed industry loss ratio benchmarks.
    • Evolves organization based upon industry trends, emerging challenges, regulatory changes, and innovation.
    • Makes innovative, strategic decisions that have the potential for an impact on corporate results, loss and expense costs, employee engagement, operational expenses, revenue and/or profitability.
    • Using management information and analysis identifies learning and development opportunities. Partners with Claim Learning and Development team and other business units to develop and deliver materials which support on-going skill development for individual contributors and leaders.
    • Possesses the requisite level of technical competence, including the ability to work with others to transfer those learnings and knowledge.
    • Has significant fiscal decision-making authority which can impact business results.
    • Represents Claim within cross-functional initiatives and makes key decisions consistent with short and long-term Claim objectives.
    • Works, in partnership with HR, to develop focused, individualized development plans for all subordinate leadership positions and plays a significant role in effectively driving talent development throughout all of Claim.
    • Consistently demonstrates key leadership principles which are fully aligned with corporate expectations and values.
    • Exhibits the ability and desire to pro-actively step out of comfort zone to take appropriate risk and stretch abilities.
    • Represents, Claim and/or Arbella at industry meetings and other events, when required.
    • Acknowledges success of team members and business units and builds a culture of engagement and teamwork.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external partners through collaboration and achievement of common goals. Adaptive leadership style.

    Requirements:

    Must possess excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills with 10+ years of progressive experience in a leadership position within a Claim Department in the property and casualty insurance industry. Bachelor's degree required with continued professional development throughout career. Requires strong skills in delegation, strategic planning, directing multiple units or departments, planning, and controlling resources and expenses, and developing staff. Experience in designing and implementing programs to assure maximum efficiency, while maintaining excellent and effective customer service. Must have the ability to manage large teams. Must have demonstrated the ability to set goals, provide direction and feedback, have strong communication and collaboration skills, and build a strong culture of engagement. This candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage at a senior leadership level.
