    Job Summary


    The Puente Navigator is part of the Title V team at Wenatchee Valley College and reports to the Director of Title V.

    This position is funded by the Title V grant and will be responsible for advancing the Title V grant deliverables.

    The Puente Navigator will serve as a bridge between Ed Planning Navigators and Faculty Advisors and willsupport the development and implementation of a case management advising model utilizing existing systems, that ensures every incoming student establishes a 2-year academic plan and learns about non-academic supports available on campus and in the community.

    This position will promote equitable access and provide proactive interventions for historically minoritized and under-served students, academic progress monitoring, and general educational planning, as needed and assigned.

    Essential Functions


    Administration:

    • Develop and curate advising tools such as program maps, 2-year academic plan templates, flipped advising resources, annual schedules, and CANVAS advising shells, and ensure they are accessible to faculty and staff.
    • Maintain complete and accurate student files and establish an organization system to house student advising files and completed 2-year academic plans, to accurately track progress towards Title V grant deliverables.
    • Collaborate with IT and other relevant departments to support the development of an advisor portal.
    • Develop and conduct regular in-person and online workshops for faculty advisors on advising tools and best practices.
    • Develop and implement a group advising pilot cohort.
    • Support the improvement of the academic early warning system to coordinate with and assist faculty/staff in recommending and implementing intervention strategies for referred students.
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to create an effective and seamless team committed to student success and retention.
    • Help manage student advisor assignments and encourage student relationships with faculty advisor.
    • Prepare reports, as required.
    • Represent the college at professional and community organizations; participate in professional conferences and in-services; serve on appropriate college committees.

    Student Support:

    • Provide direct, comprehensive educational planning for enrolled students, including historically minoritized and under-served populations, on degree requirements, transfer and career information, college policies and procedures, and other related information, as needed and assigned.
    • Work with other education and career planning staff to assist with new student group advising, placement review, program implementation, transfer advising and career planning; back up other department staff, as needed and assigned.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WVC programs, including curriculum and transfer education opportunities.
    • Student check-ins throughout the quarter to identify and problem solve barriers for retention and completion.
    • Develop and conduct regular Spanish and English in-person and online workshops, presentations, and other activities to help students develop college success skills/strategies such as how to advocate for yourself in the classroom and the hidden curriculum.
    • Understand campus and community resources and serve as a referral agent for students.
    Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Bilingual & Bicultural (English/Spanish: reading, writing, speaking and understanding).
    • Two years of office/customer service experience.
    • Experience that illustrates an understanding of and commitment to serving historically underserved students.
    • Strong interpersonal, writing and speaking skills.
    • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and desktop publishing (Word, Excel and Publisher preferred).
    • Ability to work independently and contribute collaboratively to a team environment, while effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines.
    • Experience working in higher education.
    • Highly motivated, organized and self-directed.

    • Technical/computer skills: High level of proficiency and accuracy in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canvas, PeopleSoft, and other college systems; ability to be cross-trained to provide basic technical support.
    • Student services: Knowledge of college processes such as admissions, enrollment, and financial aid; ability to be cross-trained to provide student services support.

    Additional Information


    Terms of Employment:
    This is full-time professional exempt position contracted on an annual basis. The salary for this position is $59,060 annually.

    The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the fiscal year.

    Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the department. The grant is funded through September 30, 2028. Continuation of the position is contingent on continued grant funding and the discretion of the college.

    Work Schedule & Environment:

    • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, but occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.
