- Contribute as a key team member in the Surgical Services Department working closely with the cardiothoracic team.
- Engage in patient rounds within ICU, Telemetry, and patient care units.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and deliver pre-, intra-, and post-operative care in alignment with surgical best practices.
- Perform physical exams, diagnose conditions, devise treatment plans, offer health counseling, and prescribe medications for patients within the specified age group.
- Participate as a first assistant in cardiac surgical procedures.
- No patient admission privileges but may provide intensive care within established guidelines.
- Abide by medical direction and supervision of the Supervising Physician, complying with California regulations.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification.
- Conduct post-operative consults and monitoring of medications and lab work.
- Attend ICU daily rounds for cardiac patients.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with the interest and ICU team.
- Schedule post-operative clinic visits and cardiac rehabilitation in coordination with the CV leader.
- Engage in monthly cardiology committee meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts.
- Support evidence-based practice using STS data.
