    About The Role
    We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer who'll be responsible for the development of home automation software on the Behaviors team. Our team is responsible for the Rule & Scene capabilities of the SmartThings platform, used by millions of users daily.
    Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
    • Design and develop high quality software - primarily in Java & Kotlin programming languages
    • Serve as a technical leader on projects, working closely with Cloud teams to solve challenging problems and develop new features
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members
    • Lead technical discussions with key stakeholders (engineering, product, etc.)
    • Participate in cross-functional design discussions and code reviews

    What You Bring On Day One (Required Qualifications)
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering
    • 8+ years of experience in a software development role
    • Experience using Java and Kotlin
    • Customer focused/Product minded with an interest in consumer IoT experiences
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment
    • Excellent communication skills

    Desired Skills
    • AWS experience w/ RDS, DynamoDB, terraform
    • API Development using Spring, Micronaut
    • Operating distributed systems at scale
    • Datadog, Sumologic
    • Experience in managing infrastructure, preferably with Terraform
    • Experience with project management tools, preferably JIRA
    • Experience with agile methodologies - our team uses Kanban
    • Experience with contributing to open source libraries in the JVM space

    Compensation for this role for a candidate based in Minneapolis is expected to be between $128,148 and $192,222
