Apparel & Essentials Buyer

As the Apparel & Essentials Buyer you will curate and manage product assortments for an industry-leading specialty retail business. This position is responsible for the complete life cycle of apparel products in our store. Buying decisions will be based on your understanding of consumer trends and behaviors, product awareness and decision-making regarding inventory levels. Category management responsibilities will include merchandising, organizing training for staff and overseeing the sales management process.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all buying responsibilities for apparel and essentials
• Adhere to budget guidelines as outlined by store owner and meet performance goals
• Partner with apparel vendors on buying plans, marketing, merchandising, and effective execution of apparel collections
• Oversee product returns and RAs with vendors
• Lead merchandising efforts to ensure product is aesthetically showcased
• Review sales reports on a regular basis to understand performance across suppliers and apparel classes.
• Partner with Inventory Manager on inventory receiving and preparation for the retail floor

Qualifiers:

• Must have a passion for running.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and deadline driven
• Collaborative and customer-centric
• Willing to go above and beyond when needed
• Understanding of performance metrics and key drivers (ROI, GP%, Turns)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lead and direct others
• Action oriented, level-headed, and consistent
• Communicate professionally with customers and team

• Available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Professional and timely internal and external communication
• Process-driven and detail-oriented
• Has a basic understanding of retail buying principles and best practices
• Strong communication skills and able to work within and manage a team
• Self-driven, comfortable making decisions and standing by them
• Has a basic understanding of inventory management
• Can follow a budget
• Support all Fleet Feet initiatives, activities, and functions
