    Description
    Delta Dental of Missouri is seeking an Actuarial Intern in St. Louis, Missouri.

    This individual will participate in an internship program working part-time (20 – 29 hours per week) with an anticipated duration of 6 months.

    The Actuarial Intern will be involved in actuarial, underwriting, or business analytics projects.

    Projects may include claim reserving, pricing, underwriting, forecasting, rate or system testing, analysis of provider reimbursement, data analytics, data visualization, or other tasks as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    The intern may be assigned a wide variety of tasks. This will be dependent on department workload and priorities as well as the individual's strengths, skillset and background. Tasks may vary from routine work to complex, multi-step projects.

    Education, Skills, Personal Attributes, and Experience Required

    Pursuing or completed bachelor's degree from accredited college required; math, actuarial, quantitative or business degree preferred
    A passing score on 1 or more SOA exams preferred, but not required
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
    Ability to perform detailed calculations and independently solve complex problems
    Attention to detail and accuracy
    Strong verbal and written communication skills
    Motivated with a strong interest in learning new skills and tasks
    Ability to work independently and in a team environment
    Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
