    Responsibilities

    Job Summary:


    The purpose of the postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year 2 (PGY2) residency training.


    An incumbent participates in the developments and implementation of departmental goals and objectives to improve pharmaceutical services and standards of patient care.

    Also, promotes department's delivery of pharmaceutical care with the primary focus on patient outcome.


    An incumbent remains in this classification for a maximum of 12 months from date of hire, unless an extension is granted in accordance with policy and procedures.


    Essential Functions:

    • Performs all activities associated with meeting the goals and objectives of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited PGY1 residency program.
    • Actively participates as members of the health care team to promote quality pharmaceutical services.
    • Successfully completes a major research project.
    • Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students and interns.
    • Provides in-service training to pharmacy and non-pharmacy personnel.
    • Functions as a staff pharmacist as needed and as appropriate.
    • Performs related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience Requirements:


    Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a BS, MS or Pharm D degree, including didactic courses and experiential rotations in the clinical aspects of pharmaceutical care.


    Licensure/Certification:

    • Licensed as a registered pharmacist by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy. Licensure must be received within 90 days from date of hire, unless an extension is granted in accordance with policy and procedures.
    • Membership in ASHP and WSPA is preferred.
    • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification at hire or within 30 days from date of hire into the position.

    Pay Range
    $ $40.27 /hour
