- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT for Bruce W Carter Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center looking for Registered Nurse(s) to work in the Nursing Service Operating Room (OR).
The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be March 28, 2024.Eligible applications received after this date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.
An Operating Room (OR) Nurse is responsible for the planning, execution, delivering, and evaluating both direct and indirect patient care of surgical patients.
Duties range from preoperative to postoperative interventions and other tasks necessary to meet patient's needs throughout surgical procedures, thus ensuring patient safety and continuity of care during the surgical experience.
The OR RN in the circulating role coordinates the care of the patients, serves as the patient's advocate throughout the intraoperative experience, and has responsibility for managing and implementing activities outside the sterile field.
The nursing process is used as a framework for these activities.Formulating nursing diagnosis

*2 years recent OR experience for complex procedures (General Laparoscopy, vascular, urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Robotic)The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/ invasive procedures.
