    Who are we?

    Our community health center began as a modest-sized medical clinic in Pasco, Washington in 1981. The clinic was founded by a small group of women in the Pasco community who saw the need to serve low-income community members who could not afford to pay for Healthcare.

    Tri-Cities Community Health has grown into a comprehensive non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) where we have evolved into a network of community health centers that continue with the foundation TCCH was built on and serve an even more diverse population in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas.

    Description:

    Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager, the Operator Scheduler answers all incoming calls to the Call Center transferring as needed to the appropriate departments, clinics, and staff members or taking detailed messages for follow-up. He/she is responsible for scheduling and canceling appointments, clearing provider schedulers, and working proactively with other physician offices to obtain accurate information for new appointments.

    Essential Functions:
    • Responds to calls including patients, physicians, physicians' office staff, and peers, and determine the situation's urgency. Answers telephones for the department, prioritizes, screens, and redirects call. Answers questions, handles routine matters, and takes messages
    • Schedules all appointments for patients on the NextGen scheduling system and works with the manager to meet these goals
    • Obtains patients information in a professional, accurate, customer-oriented and timely manner
    • Obtains information from patients' health insurance or managed care plan and notify patients of sliding fee program
    • Works with individual physician offices and their office managers on obtaining correct information for scheduling appointments
    • Performs work of equal skill and responsibility as directed. May also perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibilities or when the department requires
    • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards
    • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment
    • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives
    • Follows the company exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens
    • Ability to carry out all other duties as assigned
    **This is a bargaining unit position**

    Requirements

    Minimum Education: High school diploma/GED required

    Minimum Experience: One year experience with multi-line phone system preferred

    Required Licenses/Certifications: N/A

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent telephone and customer service skills. Bilingual in English/Spanish. Attention to detail and very organized. Able to remain calm and maintain focus and concentration under very stressful and demanding conditions. Effectively handles patients, co-workers, and/or visitors with outward displays of emotions, hostility, and anger.
