JOB TITLE: Refractory Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Melt Shop

DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR: Melt Shop Superintendent

BASIC FUNCTION: In charge of supervising and guiding the refractory crew and workers involved in various Melt Shop refractory tasks.

DIMENSIONS: Oversee 10-12 hourly employees

This role focuses on managing all aspects related to refractory usage and production requirements. The Refractory Supervisor reports directly to the Melt Shop Superintendent and supervises a team responsible for relining the electric arc furnace, ladles, and tundishes. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of different types, shapes, and brands of refractory materials, and be skilled in equipment relining.

Requirements for this position include three to five years of experience in furnace, ladle, and tundish repair, familiarity with a variety of refractories, and proficiency in inventory management and melt shop operations. Building and maintaining strong relationships with refractory suppliers is crucial for success in this role.

The Refractory Supervisor is accountable for executing all refractory tasks in the Melt Shop, including material procurement, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. The primary challenge of this role is ensuring a safe working environment by effectively maintaining and repairing all Melt Shop equipment using appropriate refractory materials.
